Diary Dates

With Indoor Nets now completed, and April arriving tomorrow, it’s time to look seriously at the forthcoming season at Goring.

This Friday 2nd April, being Good and all that, a few of us will be in Tha Soashe from about 8pm – come along if you can for a pint of “Good (Friday) Ole Boy”. Nothing formal, just a chance to get together as the new season approaches – you might get the chance to see “Dave” Woodage too – plus, there may well be a Mega Meat Draw if we are lucky.

The first Sunday game will be on 11th April at Blewbury. Rookie fixtures secretary and defensive maestro, Will Brownlee, has this season targeted more local games on a Sunday, with Blewbury being a new fixture this year. The following Sunday we are at home to Peppard where we hope to avenge our Innings+ defeat of last season.

League cricket starts on Saturday 1st May at home against Greeney’s Pink with a 1pm start. Feel free to let Jonny know directly your availabilities in advance – on Friday night perhaps? The next league game is home too against Emmbrook & Bearwood on the 8th May. Keep an eye on the weather, and if you are not playing come down and watch then! The WAGS seating section will be unveiled too. Also, our sponsors are providing 24 bottles of Castle Lager to share with the opposition after the game at the ground. This will be the case for every league game this season!

Finally, the Tom Hedge Invitation Darts Evening is planned for the 24th April in Tha Soashe. Darts shirts only please, and all beer drunk from a handle. This is Tom’s ideal warm up for the forthcoming season as he has a final chance to perfect the delivery that pitches after 7 foot 9 1/4 inches.
