Skipper once again let the team down with his tossing ability and saw his side put into field in gusty conditions (Curry slightly to blame). Hedge and Humphreys started well with some accurate bowling (Hedge taking two wickets), backed up well by some great keeping from C. Lewis (not the one in prison). Carrier and Brown both supported well, but Pangbourne basher Mohammed continued to play shots to all parts of the leg side field. Brown accounted for another player in a mixed first spell for Goring, with McGee showing great bravery on playing through the pain barrier. Skipper Tom “YOURS!” Ferry brought himself on for some spin, turning the ball both ways to the boundary. Pangbourne eventually finished on 219 for 6 at tea; with Ferry finally removing danger man Mohammed 107 runs too late (great knock though).
Goring opened in mixed fashion, with Harris playing some confident strokes before having his stumps rearranged by Wheeler, and Lewis coming to terms with an uncovered pitch. Lewis and Wincott proceeded to put on 48 runs for the second wicket, leaving Goring 58 for 2 with 20 overs left. Unfortunately a collapse of mammoth proportions followed, including no less than 6 ducks, leaving the Sunday team kicking themselves at 79 all out with 4 overs remaining.
Next week it is the RG8 T20 – Ultras Skipper Russell will take the lead, please show your support for the occasion by making your availability known to Toby.
