League Match Report :: GCC vs. Harlington CC – 21 May 2011

Legend...

Goring’s Duncan Kent made light work of a modest Harlington total at Saturday’s Berkshire League division 1 match.

The OC re-acquiants himself with his favourite worm-hole

Having been put in to bat in what appeared to be good batting conditions, Harlington’s batsmen struggled with an extremely disciplined bowling display by the home bowlers. Barton again impressed with good control of the new ball in a spell which saw his first seven overs cost just 13 runs.

"...that's what it's all a-bout"

However, it was the introduction of Vickery to the attack that caused Harlington to find themselves 35 for 4, bowling a tight wicket to wicket line, Vickery picked up 3 top order wickets in his first 3 overs. Malik and Khan restored some order building a 47 run partnership before slow left arm bowler Sexon broke through in his first over to dismiss Khan. A series of over ambitious shots then saw the Harlington lower order dismissed having moved the total to 115, Vickery ending with 4 for 27 and Sexon 3 for 14.

Seriously, who DOES wants it more?

The Goring innings started poorly with Wincott caught in the second over, Kent’s arrival at the crease calmed down proceedings and a 53 run partnership with Smith made victory the most probable of outcomes.

Winners, and that bloke on the left who gets in photos.

Despite losing a further 4 wickets, Kent did not lose focus and took Goring to a well deserved win with some assured strokeplay. Goring travel to local rivals Checkendon this Saturday for what should be a fiercely contested fixture.
