Tom Ferry pushes himself up the bowling rankings and Pete Slade’s bottom

With the middle of the season approaching fast, the Stats Department (who rarely get out anymore) here at Upswinger! took some time to visit GCC’s “Play Cricket” site (click here) and to trawl through all the data from the game that has been entered into the system so far. After an entire six minutes of analysis, we came up with this, perhaps surprising, statistic.

When looking at the bowling figures alone, for all GCC games entered on to the site to date this season, Sunday Skipper Tom Ferry tops the statistics in the category of “Five Wicket Hauls” with a grand total of zero five wicket hauls on the database. On closer inspection, it would seem that the “Number of Maidens Bowled (ascending)” column becomes the sorting factor when 5 wicket hauls are all equal. Pete Slade, GCC’s 2010’s “Jumper-Wearing Bowlers Bowler Of The Year“, as you will see from the graphic below, falls last.

Factistics.
